Flourish Care Expands Access as UnitedHealthcare Brings Doula Services In-Network

Slater Technology Fund portfolio company Flourish Care is now in-network with UnitedHealthcare as the insurer expands coverage to include doula services.

The shift reflects a broader change in how maternal care is delivered and reimbursed. Historically, doula support has been largely out-of-pocket. As payers begin to cover these services, access is expanding and new care models are becoming viable at scale.

Flourish Care provides in-person and virtual doula support before, during, and after pregnancy, matching patients based on factors like cultural preferences, language, and location. As an in-network provider, the company is positioned to reach more patients through employer-sponsored and commercial health plans.

This moment is part of a larger inflection point. Dozens of states are implementing reimbursement pathways for doula care, and coverage now extends to tens of millions of lives across Medicaid and commercial plans.

Slater has invested in Flourish Care multiple times since 2024, supporting the company as it builds a scalable model to integrate doula care into mainstream healthcare.

The inclusion of providers like Flourish Care in major insurance networks signals a shift from niche, supplemental support to a more standard component of maternal care — with the potential to improve outcomes while reducing costly complications.
