Brown University report outlines goals for a better R.I. economy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown University has written a plan for how the school can best help Rhode Island grow athriving technology sector.

After a year of focus groups and stakeholder meetings, the university on Monday released “Brown and theInnovation Economy,” a report that validates several projects the university is working on and encourages further efforts in the future.

“A thriving Rhode Island economy is also good for Brown. Concentrations of talent, innovation and entrepreneurship — matched with strong industrial partnerships — will ensure that Brown continues to generate high-impact research and provide a stellar education,” the report said. “It will enable Brown to continue to recruit top students and faculty in a highly competitive environment which is essential for excellence.”
